Shelter Island is the home to some of the larger and most recognizable outdoor artworks in the San Diego Port’s collection. It is a setting complimented by art that captures the spirit and celebration of San Diego’s diverse history. It is a spectacular venue for learning more about the power of public art in our community. Artwork such as the "Tunaman’s Memorial" in middle of the island honoring San Diego’s rich history of commercial fishing and "Yokohama Friendship Bell", a gift to the City of San Diego from its sister city in Japan. You can reach the island by heading South-West for approximatly 10 miles from the Hampton San Diego hotel.
